About:
The Student Council at Unqua Elementary School in the Massapequa School District organized a pair of holiday drives to benefit people in the community. Students collected food, along with winter accessories such as mittens, gloves, hats and scarves, with donations from the two initiatives going to the Yes Community Counseling Center in Massapequa. Principal Deanna Catapano, who was joined by fourth-grade members of Student Council, said these are annual drives that teach students about charity and compassion.
